WHAT ARE ACNE SCARS?
Acne scars are permanent textural changes and indentations that occur on the skin as a result of severe acne breakouts. When acne lesions penetrate deep into the skin, they can damage underlying tissue, leading to scar formation. Acne scars come in different types, including atrophic (indented) scars such as ice pick, boxcar, and rolling scars, as well as hypertrophic (raised) scars. These scars form due to the body's healing response, which may involve excess collagen production or tissue loss.

While some acne scars fade over time, others may require treatments like laser therapy, microneedling, or chemical peels to improve their appearance.
