To ensure you are getting the most out of each session and reduce any side effects, here are a few things you can do before and after:

BEFORE:

  • Make sure the hair is long enough. A good indication is if you can tweeze it, it’s long enough! PLEASE DO NOT ACTUALLY TWEEZE! It will slow down the process of permanently removing hair.

  • Remove any makeup on the areas being treated

  • Avoid direct sunlight 48 hours prior to your treatment to avoid dilation of the blood vessels

  • Do not use any retinoid for at least 7 days prior

  • Stay hydrated the day before, the day of and after the treatment. Proper hydration will help your skin heal quicker.

DAY OF:

Redness -- following treatment, there may be slight redness and inflammation. This varies from person to person and is temporary. It will disappear after a short time. It is a natural skin reaction.

Pinpoint lesions -- due to sensitivity of skin or sometimes how long the treatment is, a patient may experience tiny red pinpoint lesions after the treatment. This is a normal healing process. DO NOT TOUCH the crust as this may cause infection of the follicle and/or even scarring.

Swelling -- the face swells up the most so please be prepared to spend the first evening applying a cold pack to the face. Ice can be applied to the other bodily areas being treated as well to help reduce the swelling.

AFTER:

>> Allow the skin to settle and return back to normal after the heat reaction in the skin! Do not touch or scratch the treated area - bacteria can transfer to the treated area and cause whiteheads to appear if you irritate it. It is important to keep the treated area clean and dry! <<

Apply cortizone 10 with aloe on the treated areas 2 a day -- this reduces swelling and inflammation. Aloe helps soothes the skin.

  • Washing -- use gentle unscented cream or facial cleanser/wash 24-48 hours after treatment. Never use soap as this can further dry the skin. Gently pat the area dry.

  • Make-up -- please try not to use any make-up, creams, alcohol, harsh soaps or cleansers for at least 24 hours. Soap can sometimes cause irritation and possible infection.

  • Sunlight -- please avoid direct sun exposure for the 72 hours to avoid formation of brown pigmentation spots. Your skin defends against UV rays by producing pigment to deflect some of the harmful rays. If the skin is traumatized, it can over-produce pigment in those areas. Always wear SPF :)

  • Swelling -- the first clearing treatment will cause the most swelling. If you take care as we ask, you can expect the swelling to last about three to four days after the first treatment and even less after the others. Some people will experience more swelling than others.

Avoid possible activities that may cause your skin to become irritated and allow bacteria to enter in thto the open follicles such as:

  • Self tans, fake tans, direct sunlight, saunas, solaris, jacuzzis, steam treatments

  • Hot baths and showers

  • Swimming

  • Activities that cause you to sweat excessively for 24 hours

Remember: Some re-growth is to be expected. If you reschedule when the first re-growth occurs, the roots are shorter and weaker and therefore can be treated more effectively. We want to catch the hairs in the anagen phase of your hair cycle!
